Rebecca Halpenny

I am a 23-year-old photographer from County Louth with a passion for portrait, animal, and documentary photography including the music and entertainment industry. Having loved photography from a young age, I want to take photographs that encapsulate the essence of being alive during ever-changing times. I'm constantly working on my style and visual identity. Inspired by the complex world around me, my project work has moved from a more traditional documentary approach to a more contemporary style.

Look Up

This documentary project ‘Look Up’ examines the interference from mobile phones that take us away from the world around us and the people we love. Inspired by my own screen time, I set out to portray the idea that immersing oneself in the world, cherishing moments with loved ones, indulging in one’s passions, and being aware of what is going on in the present moment could improve everyday life. While acknowledging the importance of these devices, embracing moments free from their grasp could give everyone a chance to experience the world through a lens reminiscent of earlier generations, fostering deep connections with our surroundings and each other.

Mary

Rebecca’s traditional documentary project ‘Mary’ is based around her aunt. It tells a story about loneliness among the older generation.
